Brent Tantillo's Artistic Statement

 

My artistic journey is inextricably linked to my faith, my role as a father and creator, and my commitment to living a life guided by truth, compassion, and righteousness. I believe that God has placed me in this world to contribute to its beauty and understanding through music, art, literature, and knowledge. Each morning, I rise with an eagerness to make a positive impact, whether through my creative work, my interactions with loved ones, or my contributions to society.

 

Music, for me, is a direct manifestation of this divine purpose. It's a way to connect with the deepest parts of myself and to share those truths with others. Just as God created the world with harmony and intention, I strive to create music that resonates with both the intellect and the emotions. I aim for clarity and a natural flow of musical ideas, inviting listeners on a cinematic journey filled with unexpected turns and moments of profound beauty. This process requires vulnerability and trust, not only between myself and the musicians who bring my compositions to life, but also between the music itself and the listener.

 

My compositions draw inspiration from a diverse tapestry of musical influences, including the improvisational spirit of jazz, the raw energy of rock, and the storytelling traditions of Americana. I see these genres not as separate entities, but as interconnected streams flowing into a larger river of musical expression. From jazz, I embrace the freedom to explore and experiment, to push boundaries and discover new sonic landscapes. Rock music infuses my work with a sense of urgency and passion, a driving force that propels the music forward. And from Americana, I draw a deep appreciation for narrative and emotional honesty, for music that speaks to the heart and soul of the human experience.

 

Art as Truth
